The Enduring Traditions Chaplaincy Program:

  • Coordinates with the Department of Defense and Pentagon officials and meets with the Chiefs of Chaplains of the Army, Navy and Air Force on a regular basis to maximize opportunities for Jewish service personnel to observe and practice Judaism
  • Increases and enhances the number of Rabbis serving in the military and provides for Jewish service members and their families within the United States and overseas, as well as for soldiers who are deployed in combat zones
  • Assists and equips Jewish and non-Jewish Chaplains and Lay Leaders worldwide with computer-assisted educational programs, printed materials and other forms of media as well as ritual items to support their observance and expand their knowledge of Judaism and Jewish life
  • Assists Jewish and non-Jewish Chaplains and Lay Leaders in planning Jewish holiday services, life-cycle events and the facilitation of  study and worship opportunities
  • Provides a cadre of highly motivated Rabbinical students and Rabbis to serve at installations where no permanent Jewish Chaplains are assigned
  • Provides guidance and education to its Chaplains and Lay Leaders to help them cope with a wide range of issues that includes professional, personal and career counseling
  • Conducts an annual Shabbaton (Sabbath retreat) and Training Conference to develop and facilitate professional development courses and workshops for all Jewish Military Chaplains, Veterans Administration (VA) Chaplains and Lay Leaders
