As you approach your Bar or Bat Mitzvah, you have an amazing opportunity to shine your light into the world and make a difference. You can make your special day even more meaningful by helping others.
Aleph’s Family Services team works with boys and girls of all ages who have a mom or dad in prison. By doing a mitzvah project with Aleph, you’ll bring joy and hope to kids who are feeling sad or lonely. Here are some ideas to get you started, and they’re fully customizable! Let your imagination soar, and remember: you have the power to bring so much light to these children.
For a child whose parent is away, any extra feeling of love, care, and connection can mean the world to them. You can create gift packages filled with toys, candy, crafts, a handwritten letter, and anything else that feels like a personal touch—like a warm hug from you to them!
Organize a toy drive in your community to collect toys, games, and crafts for children in need, and write personal notes to send along with the gifts! Aleph sends presents to hundreds of kids each year, for Chanukah, birthdays, and other special occasions.
Host your own fundraiser! Whether it’s a bake sale, a talent show, or a car wash–find a creative way for neighbors and friends to join you in this mitzvah. All the money you raise will go directly to Aleph families and children in need.
Aleph’s Mitzvah Project allows you to make your celebration as unique as you are—and we’re here to help every step of the way. You’re not just celebrating your special day–you’re changing lives.
