Too many points make it difficult to select a prison? you can click and hold with your mouse to select an AREA to zoom even further!
To ZOOM OUT you can:
click on any area of the map to see the entire country. If you had previously selected a zoom area, then the map will display a view of the state you just clicked.
click on the [ZOOM OUT] button that appears during zoomed view to see the entire country again.
right-click with your mouse for a menu option that allows you to ZOOM OUT.
NAVIGATION
You can move around the map in two ways.
Click on an adjacent state to jump to it when in zoom view.
Move your mouse to the edges of the map, when you see a gray sidebar appear, and your pointer turns to a big arrow, click on it and your map will slide in that direction. You can also move the arrow around, just remember to keep holding the left mouse button while you do so.
ACCESSING THE DATABASE THROUGH THE MAP
After zooming into a state, hovering the mouse over a location point reveals the name of the prison facility. When the prison name shows, you click the colored dot to open the database page for that prison facility.
WHAT THE COLORS MEAN
Prisons are color coded according to their category:
• Federal
• State
• County
• Other
You may need to be logged in to make any changes or additions to the database and/or to see private information.
Federal Prisons
